Are you registered to vote? These letters will help you check

Wednesday, August 8, 2018

RESIDENTS are urged to look out for canvass letters in the post which were posted to all properties at the beginning of August.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is urging people to complete and return these forms to make sure that they are registered to vote ahead of the elections on May 2, 2019.

A new register will be published on December 1, 2018, from information from this canvass.

Residents will receive one of two types of letter. The first lists those registered to vote at an address along with their details which they should check and let the Council know about any changes or errors.

The second type will contain an application to go on to the Electoral Register and will be sent to properties where the Council is told that someone new has moved in or someone has turned 16 and needs to be added.

Residents should return any completed forms as soon as possible. For help or information, call the Voter Registration helpline on 01642 526196 or visit www.stockton.gov.uk/registertovote
