Tributes have been paid to former Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Pete Andrew, who died on Saturday (October 14).
Mr Andrew, 76, was Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Deputy Leader during the 1990s and served as Mayor in 2000/01.
A former civil servant with a keen interest in cricket, Mr Andrew was councillor for the Hardwick ward from 1991 to 2003.
Council Leader, Councillor Bob Cook, said: “I was very saddened to hear about Pete’s death.
“He worked very hard for the people of the Borough and cared deeply about the Hardwick ward he represented. Our deepest condolences are with his family.”
Mr Andrew’s funeral service will be held at Stockton Parish Church at 3pm on Wednesday, October 25, followed by cremation at Teesside Crematorium at 3.45pm.
His family have asked for donations to be made to the North East Air Ambulance Service in lieu of flowers.
