ALL THE fun of the fair is on offer to residents and visitors in a series of special workshops taking place as part of this year’s Stockton International Riverside Festival (SIRF).
New for 2017, the Carnival Jamboree workshops run from Wednesday 2 August at Parish Gardens in Stockton in the week leading up to the SIRF Community Carnival on Saturday 5 August.
There’ll be a whole range of activities for people of all ages to try their hand at, including freewheeling, acrobatics, stilt-walking, crafts, music, dance and a unique circus drop-in family workshop!
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The Carnival Jamboree workshops are a really great new idea that will make this year’s SIRF the most inclusive and exciting to date, there’s certainly enough to keep people of all ages busy.
“Every session is completely free of charge and it’ll be fantastic to see people getting involved, perhaps with a spot of unicycling with former world champion Daiki Izumida or even stilt-walking with Carpetbag Brigade – this is your chance to do something different this summer!”
