Stockton-on-Tees has been named in the top fifty places for people in their 20s to live.
Researchers for Channel 4’s “UK’s Best Place to Live”, presented by Sarah Beeny, drew up the list which is based on information from the Office of National Statistics and data relating to housing, jobs, business, well-being, culture, transport and family life.
Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Councillor Bob Cook, said: “It comes as no surprise to us that Stockton-on-Tees is such a popular place for young people.
“This latest accolade comes just two months after Stockton Town Centre was crowned the winner of the Great British High Street Awards in the Rising Star category and at a time when we are seeing many of the Borough’s businesses continue to thrive and start-up businesses, several headed up by young entrepreneurs, choosing to make Stockton-on-Tees their home.
“With an abundance of high quality affordable housing at places like Vivo at Northshore on the banks of the River Tees, an exciting year-round events programme offering world-class experiences covering everything from street theatre to sports, markets and family fun, an emerging evening economy with sophisticated micro pubs and stylish cocktail bars, live music and arts venues like ARC not to mention our wonderful open spaces, parks and leisure facilities – Stockton Borough really is a great place to live, work and enjoy.”
