YOUNG people with aspirations to work towards a career in the arts and literary industries are being invited to a unique event in Stockton Central Library.
On Wednesday 8 March, from 6pm to 8pm, anyone aged 16 to 25 is encouraged to attend the ‘Careers With Words’ event and learn from a host of professionals working across various disciplines across the arts and written word.
The special guests include the author Gabrielle Kent, scriptwriter Dean Wilkinson, illustrator Ingi Jensson, journalist Bethany Lodge and librarian Mark Freeman.
The event is taking place as part of National Careers Week, which runs from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 March, and celebrates careers guidance and free resources in education across the UK.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to meet like-minded peers and some very impressive professionals who have carved out careers with words.
“The age group that this event is aimed at is one that can often benefit from some careers guidance. I’m sure it’ll be helpful and inspirational to young people leaving education and those looking for a route into a career that makes the most of their love of the arts or the written word.”
The event is free to attend but booking is essential as places are limited. To book, visit www.careerswithwords.eventbrite.co.uk
All attendees receive a free book and course information from various universities will also be on offer.
