Teams taking part in the annual Mayor’s Charity Golf Day have raised £7,000 that will benefit three worthy charities.
The Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Maurice Perry, hosted the popular fundraising occasion at Wynyard Golf Club on Friday 16 June, where 24 teams competed for charity glory.
The event was held to raise funds for the Mayor’s chosen charities which are Meningitis Now, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Cleveland Alzheimer’s Residential Centre Ltd.
The winning team was Neasham Refrigeration and Catering Equipment, a subsidiary of Country Harvest Meats – comprised of Andy Gaffney (Captain on the day), Ralph Gayle, Kevin Smith and George Richardson.
The Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Maurice Perry, said: “I am thrilled at the amount of money that has been raised through this event and I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone that helped to organise and take part on the day.
“These charities do such important work and it is a privilege to be able to help their causes through this fundraising. The day itself was very enjoyable and I hope we have helped to raise awareness of the invaluable efforts of the charities we fundraised for. Congratulations to the winning team!”
Sales Director of Neasham Refrigeration and Catering Equipment and the team’s usual Captain, Ray Clark, said: “Neasham Refrigeration and Catering Equipment have always been supportive of the Mayor’s Golf Day. We were runners up last year so were really pleased to win this time!”
