Help preserve Stockton's past

Tuesday, April 25, 2017

It's local and community history month in May and people living across Stockton Borough are being encouraged to preserve their past.

Residents are invited to Stockton Reference Library throughout the month to learn how they can capture their family history for future generations to enjoy.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Norma Wilburn, said: “If you have old photographs, slides, negatives, letters, diaries or even video and audio recordings this is a perfect opportunity to make sure they are preserved for many years to come.

“It’s also a chance to learn about your family and community history while contributing to the growing local history record of our area.

“Our digitisation team are really helpful and will be on hand throughout the month to show you how to use the equipment.”

Stockton Reference Library is based on the first floor of Stockton Central Library.

Digitisation specialists will be available by appointment between 10am and 4pm, weekdays, throughout May.

For more information or to book an appointment contact Stockton Reference Library on 01642 528079.
