Get your child's car seat checked for free

Tuesday, April 4, 2017

STOCKTON-on-Tees Borough Council is encouraging all parents and carers who transport children using a car seat to have the devices professionally checked at a special event.

On Wednesday 12 April, between 11am and 4pm, trained people will be outside of Mothercare at Teesside Shopping Park to check over car seats as well as showing how they should be installed and used properly to ensure safety.

Councillor Nigel Cooke, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, said: “It’s vitally important that all car seats are fitted properly and that people know how to use them correctly so they can be sure that their children are being given the best protection possible while travelling in a car.

“There have been changes to car seat regulations recently so I would encourage everyone who uses one to come down to the event, have their car seat checked and enjoy the peace of mind that will come from knowing it has been looked at by a professional.”

The event is a result of partnership working between Middlesbrough Council and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, with the expert technicians supplied by Good Egg Safety.
