Four candidates to contest Tees Valley Mayoral election

Four candidates have been nominated to contest next month’s Mayoral election for the Tees Valley Combined Authority – and there is still time to register to vote.

The election will take place on Thursday, May 4.

The candidates are:

  • Chris Foote-Wood (Liberal Democrat)
  • Ben Houchen (Conservative Party Candidate)
  • Sue Jeffrey (Labour and Co-operative Party)
  • John David Edward Tennant (UK Independence Party – UKIP)

Residents who are not on the electoral register must apply to register by Thursday, April 13 to ensure they can vote in the election.

Those who are registered to vote and would like to vote by post must apply by 5pm on Tuesday, April 18.

Those who are registered to vote and would like to vote by proxy must apply by 5pm on Tuesday, April 25.

Registration takes just a few minutes and requires people to provide their date of birth and National Insurance number.

Registration can be completed online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote and alternatively, hard copy registration forms are also available by request.
