THE Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees officially opened a new nursery yesterday (25 October).
Councillor Ken Dixon cut the ribbon at The Oval childcare nursery which looks after babies and children aged between four months and 10 years old.
Based in the Newtown Resource Centre, it offers a whole host of activities ranging from arts and crafts, to sensory and heuristic play as well as construction and technology, and outdoor play to name but a few.
Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees, Councillor Ken Dixon, said: “I was delighted to be invited to open The Oval. The staff are all really lovely and their enthusiasm and care for the children they look after shines through. I’m sure it will be a very well used and valued facility.”
Tracey Mclone decided to set up the nursery after working in childcare centres and as a childminder with her daughter Abigail Cooper for three years, she said: “When we worked from the home the demand for our service grew dramatically so moving to a bigger premises in the Newtown Resource centre seems like the next logical step for us.
“The Oval is in an ideal location and is a safe, friendly environment where the children are our top priority.
“Our staff are fantastic and very passionate about giving the children in our care the very best start in life while also supporting their parents, we are happy to adapt to their needs and provide a flexible service for parents who work shifts.
“It’s a really exciting time for us and we’re really looking forward to welcoming more parents and children over the coming weeks and months.”
The Oval childcare nursery is open 7am until 6pm, Monday to Friday.
