PARENTS and carers are reminded that the deadline for secondary school admissions is fast approaching.
Applications will close on Monday 31 October and any submissions made after this date will not be processed until places have been allocated to those who applied in time.
If your child was born between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2006, he or she will start secondary school in September 2017.
Councillor Ann McCoy, Stockton-On-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “If you get your child’s application done in good time, it will save a lot of unnecessary worry further down the line.
“If you miss the deadline, there is a chance you will miss out on one of your three preferred choices of school.
“I urge all parents and carers to get it done well before the 31 October deadline; there is no point in running the risk and leaving it to chance.”
Because Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council receives over 2,000 secondary school applications each year, parents and carers are advised to submit applications as soon as possible.
Applications can be made online by visiting www.stockton.gov.uk/schooladmissions
National offer day is Wednesday 1 March 2017 where parents and carers will find out which school place their child has been allocated.
Those who apply online will also receive an email on the same day notifying which school their child has been allocated to. All applicants will be notified by post as well.
