Two larger than life creatures have appeared on Stockton High Street to make the town centre their home this Christmas.
Visitors to Stockton Town Centre will find that last year’s supersized illuminated reindeer and her young calf have returned above the Shambles Market Hall, while a huge glimmering bauble has been positioned on Dovecot Street.
The giant decorations arrived yesterday, 6 November, ready for the launch of this year’s Stockton Sparkles winter festival.
Last year’s much-loved giant polar bear and her cub are also set to reappear at the Town Hall next week helping to transform Stockton High Street into a winter wonderland.
The decorations will be switched on during the launch of Stockton Sparkles, which will take place between 5.30pm and 7pm on Thursday 24 November.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “These larger than life illuminations are just the latest to decorate the High Street this winter.
“In the next couple of weeks we will be adding more festive decorations to transform the town centre into a magical wonderland in time for Sparkles launch night. The High Street is going to look really special and will make the perfect setting for people to do some shopping, socialising or just to get into the festive spirit."
