Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council has appointed a new Director of Adults and Health.
Ann Workman will take up the post at the end of the month and will oversee adult social care services as well as public health and environmental health.
The appointment follows the departure of Peter Kelly who has left the Council to take up the position of Regional Director at Public Health England.
Ann began her career as a social worker in 1998 and is coming to Stockton from Essex County Council where she has been Director of Local Delivery for Adult Operations for the last 15 months.
Before that she was Assistant Director of Social Care at Darlington Borough Council for five years having previously worked at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council as an Integrated Service Area Manager.
Ann said: “I’m looking forward to returning to Stockton very much and to working with the dedicated members and officers of the Council.
“Although we are facing real challenges across the public sector I’m positive that working jointly with our partners we will continue to offer excellent service to the people of Stockton.”
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member of Adult Services and Health, Councillor Jim Beall, said: “The health and well-being of our residents is at the centre of everything we do so I’m delighted that Ann is bringing such a wealth of experience to Stockton-on-Tees and I look forward to working with her.
“I’m sure her knowledge and skills will be of huge value as we do our very best to support and protect vulnerable adults as well as helping our residents to lead fulfilling and healthy lives, despite the budget pressures we continue to face and at a time when our ageing population is growing.”
