Larger than life polar bears return to Stockton

Monday, November 21, 2016

A LARGER than life polar bear and her cub have been welcomed back to Stockton High Street for the festive season.

The bears were installed on Sunday (20 November) and visitors to Stockton will see them peering inside the Town Hall.

The supersized decorations will be switched on during the launch of Stockton Sparkles, which takes place between 5.30pm and 7pm on Thursday 24 November.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The bears were installed for the first time last year and they proved to be very popular with shoppers and visitors to the High Street.

“Standing more than two metres tall, the bears are really eye-catching and will look superb when they are switched on – I can’t wait to see them lit up. They are a great addition to the High Street and will help you get into the Christmas spirit.

“Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting events coming up with Stockton Sparkles.”
