Friday, August 05, 2016

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Learning and Skills service has been awarded the Matrix standard for the high quality of Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) it provides to learners.

The Matrix kite mark recognises organisations such as training providers, universities, local authorities, and further and higher education colleges which demonstrate the highest levels of support to individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.

An independent assessor highlighted that members of staff have a genuine desire to improve and develop the Learning and Skills service to provide learners with the best possible outcomes. He also found that staff have a clear understanding of the importance of providing an effective service to potential and existing learners.

It was also noted that the Council’s overall learner retention, achievement and success trends have been consistently above the national average for the past three years.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: “It’s really important for us to provide a high quality service to our learners so it is really good news that our efforts have been recognised. Thanks to all of our staff for their hard work and commitment to help deliver an excellent learning experience.”
