THE sound of percussion and pyrotechnics reverberated across the Tees last night as this year’s Stockton International Riverside Festival came to an exhilarating close.
Thousands of people gathered on Stockton’s riverside to see French act Commandos Percu’s spectacular show combining fire, music and dance.
The show, Le Concert de Feu, brought the four day festival of theatre, circus, dance and music to a fitting end.
Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “Bringing acts of this quality to Stockton is what SIRF is all about, and people can see them for free.
“Between the haunting opening show, Furious Folly, and last night’s magnificent finale, we’ve had all kinds of shows and performances to thrill and delight.
“Events like SIRF really set our Borough apart – thank you to everyone involved and to the thousands of people who came along to enjoy the experience.”
SIRF is supported by Arts Council England.
