Roseworth Library to close for essential works

Monday, September 21, 2015

ROSEWORTH Library will close from Monday 28 September for essential maintenance works.

The building, on Redhill Road, will undergo a second phase of repairs to the section of roof covering the library. However, Redhill’s Children Centre and the Stockton Public Health Information Library at the site will remain open.

The works to improve the Library’s structure and resilience to weather are expected to be completed by November.

While the library is closed, all calls will be diverted and reservations dealt with by Norton Library.

Councillor Norma Wilburn, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “We are always keen to invest in improvements to buildings where necessary and our libraries play such a vital role in our communities as places of learning and fulfilment.

“During the period of closure, patrons can access services at all of the other Stockton libraries across the Borough.

“We hope to minimise any disruption and I would like to thank the users of Roseworth Library for their patience during these essential works.”

Patrons are advised there will be no car parking during the closure but pedestrian access via the rear of the building remains.

The last day of normal opening hours, 9am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm, will be on Friday 25 September.

A mobile library will visit the Mile House Public House in Roseworth on Friday 9 October and Friday 30 October between 9.30am and 10.30am.

Weather dependent, it is anticipated that Roseworth Library will reopen in early November.
