If you’re keen to get out on your bike a bit more and explore more of your local area this summer, but don’t know where to start, a series of free guided bike rides coming to Stockton-on-Teescould be the answer.
Part of a national campaign to get more people cycling for fun and fitness, Sky Ride Local offers a fantastic range of themed guided bike rides taking place throughout the summer months.
British Cycling and Sky, in partnership with Stockton-on-Tees Council, have scheduled a series of themed Sky Ride Local rides in Stockton-on-Tees for 2015. Guided by friendly British Cycling Ride Leaders along scenic local routes and pitched at three different levels, the rides will explore different themes from Wildlife and Wilderness to City Streets and Parklife.
Stewart Kellett, British Cycling’s Director of Recreation and Partnerships, said:
‘What better way to get some exercise, get outdoors and see your area in a new way than to join some of the themed Sky Ride Local bike rides taking place in and around Location this summer.
‘The rides begin on Sunday 7 June, so there’s no time like the present to get your bike out. Whether you want to build your cycling confidence or already comfortable on a bike and looking for a challenge, now’s the time to register your free place on a Sky Ride Local bike ride in Stockton-on-Tees.’
Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Ken Dixon, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the benefits of cycling. We are delighted that Stockton is hosting Sky Ride Local rides and hope people of all ages and abilities will join in as it is a great way for families and friends to cycle together, enjoy the fresh air, exercise and learn more about how to cycle safely throughout our Borough.”
