Residents across Stockton Borough are invited to put their dancing shoes on for a fantastic new programme of classes at Preston Park Museum and Grounds.

'Just Keep Dancing' is a programme of four exciting dance sessions designed to get people of all ages and abilities up on their feet.

Award-winning dance and fitness experts, Nouveau Dance have secured funding from the Big Lottery fund to deliver the free dance classes.

Parents and children can enjoy Family Dancercise, a fun movement class which encourages family members to get moving together. The classes combine a creative mix of dance steps for all ages and abilities to enjoy. They will be held from 2pm to 3pm every Tuesday, 3 March to 18 August (excluding 28 April).

Tuesday afternoons will also see the energetic Adult Dancercise classes take place from 3pm to 4pm. Participants will be shown a range of easy exercise routines designed to give a total body workout. The dance sessions are full of rhythm and energy with music ranging from pop to Bhangra, country and jazz.

On Wednesdays dancers will also be able to learn the traditional dances of yesteryear at the fun and friendly Step Back in Time classes. Dancers will be taken on a musical journey from past to present with the opportunity to learn classic samba, swing, rock and roll, jazz and disco moves - to name just a few! These special classes are open to all abilities and will be held at 2pm to 3pm each Wednesday, 4 March to 19 August (excluding 29 April).

Also on offer is the chance to take an unusual 'Chair Dance' class. This enjoyable musical dance session includes a range of aerobic dance styles and routines that can be practiced while sitting down. The classes will take place from 3pm to 4pm on the same days as the Step back in Time classes.

Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Art, Leisure and Culture, said: "Dance is a really fun and invigorating way to get moving and keep fit.
