Time is running out for people to beat the clock and secure their place in this year’s Stockton Duathlon, one of the biggest and best of its kind in the UK.
More than 600 people have registered to lace up their running shoes on Sunday 26 April and any remaining interested individuals are being encouraged to sign up before the deadline on Saturday 18 April.
The increasingly popular run-ride-run race offers participants of all abilities the chance to compete against others, achieve their personal goals or simply to enjoy getting active against the stunning backdrop of the River Tees.
This year’s Duathlon is set to be bigger and better than ever with three separate races to choose from which all take place on fully closed roads:
- Novice – 2k run, 10k cycle, 1k run
- Sprint – 5k run, 20k cycle, 2.5k run
- Standard – 10k run, 40k cycle, 5k run
There are cash prizes for first (£500), second (£300) and third (£200) places in the Standard distance event for both males and females.
The Sprint and Standard races will also act as GB Age Group Team Qualifiers for the 2015 ITU Duathlon World Championships or 2016 ETU Duathlon European Championships respectively.
The Duathlon is hosted by Stockton Council in partnership with TriHard and is supported by British Triathlon, A1 Multisport, WattCycle and Wynyard Park.
