Tribute to former Stockton Borough Councillor - Eileen Craggs

The death of former Stockton Borough councillor Eileen Craggs was announced on 21 April.

Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Barbara Inman, said: “Eileen cared deeply about Thornaby and worked tirelessly for the people who live there. She was much loved by those she represented and she will be missed by all who knew her.”

Eileen was elected to Stockton Council representing the Village ward in Thornaby from 1999 to 2005. In 2007 she was elected as the member for Stainsby Hill. During her time as a councillor she sat on many different commitees, becoming Vice Chair of the Health Committee in 2001. A trained nurse by profession, Eileen was awarded an MBE for services to nursing.

Eileen’s funeral service will be held this Friday, 1 May at 10am at St Patrick’s Church, Westbury Street, Thornaby followed by interment at Thornaby Cemetery. Friends and colleagues are asked to meet at the Church.
