Big plans, bright future

Stockton Central Library under way

Friday, October 03, 2014

Stockton Central Library will be closed on Saturday afternoons until 1 November to allow essential repair works to take place.

The temporary reduction in opening hours will allow repairs to be made to the atrium windows in the centre of the library.

Due to the height of the windows and the nature of the works, facilities in the central areas of the library will need to be removed so the works can be carried out.

This means the library will be open from 9.30am to 12.30pm every Saturday from 4 October until 1 November. Weekday opening times will be unaffected.

Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Leisure, said: "We know how valued the library is by many residents in the Borough. This temporary reduction in opening hours is vital for the essential repairs to be carried out so that visitors can continue to enjoy the library and all it has to offer."

Normal Saturday opening hours of 9.30am to 4pm are expected to resume on Saturday 8 November.
