Stockton shines a light on autism awareness

Monday, March 31, 2014

The River Tees will be illuminated blue this week in support of World Autism Awareness Day.

On Wednesday 2 April, Stockton Council will change the multi-coloured lighting along the Riverside so it glows blue. The lighting display will change in support of the international Light It Up Blue campaign.

The river's iconic bridges and river bank will be transformed with colourful light installations between the Princess of Wales Bridge and the Millennium Bridge.

The Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Kathryn Nelson, said: “This is a wonderful cause which we are very proud to support and help raise awareness for. Pop down to the Riverside tomorrow evening to see the colourful display.”

The spectacular lighting, which can change colours every few seconds, was commissioned by the Council as part of its multi-million pound town centre regeneration.
