Monday, March 03, 2014

Parents across the Borough are being invited to find out more about a new study programme designed to boost their teenagers' skills for employment.

Stockton Council's Tees Achieve service has developed the programme to help 16 to 18 year olds gain valuable new skills and work experience to enhance their employment prospects.

The young people will benefit from professional support and advice and will be given the opportunity to earn between £40 and £60 a week on a work placement.

Parents can find out more at one of the following information sessions:

  • Thursday 6 March
    5-7pm
  • Friday 7 March
    10-12noon
  • Friday 7 March
    2-4pm
  • All sessions will take place at Tees Achieve, 19-23 Bridge Road, Stockton (opposite the Job Centre).

Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Councillor Ann McCoy, said: "The study programme is a great way for young people to develop practical and transferrable skills and gain valuable work experience. I would encourage parents to attend one of the information sessions and bring their children along to find out more about the programme.”
