Big plans, bright future

World Market returns to Stockton

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

A popular market returns to the Borough for the third time on Saturday 21 June bringing with it exotic tastes, smells and sights from across the world.

Traders will bring an international array of fashions, gifts and jewellery to Wellington Square in Stockton Town Centre.

From 11am to 4pm the market will give shoppers the chance to sample and take away dishes from around the world including a range of dishes from Africa, German noodles and bratwurst, traditional hog roast and Indian street food.

Stockton based business Mushtaq Brothers will be selling delicious hot snacks at the market as well as a large selection of ingredients such as spices, breads, grains and pulses to make delicious meals at home.

Councillor Mike Smith, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, said: "This is the third year the World Market has headed to Stockton Town Centre bringing with it an array of international foods, gifts, and fashion.

“Don’t miss this chance to browse among the stalls in Wellington Square and make sure you try all the new flavours and tempting food on offer to eat on the go or take away and enjoy at home later. You can also take the opportunity to pick up some usual gifts – Lithuanian crafts, hand woven bags or you can even get an intricate henna design.”

Hosted and organised by Stockton Council, the World Market is part of a programme of specialist markets heading to Stockton Town Centre over the coming months to attract visitors and shoppers into the town and to complement what the popular weekly market has to offer.

Stockton Council is supporting the expansion of all markets in Stockton Town Centre as part of its multi million pound programme to regenerate the High Street.
