Stockton's River Rat Race is back next month - get your running shoes on and sign up now to enjoy an early bird discount!
The popular event, which is organised by Stockton Council and Rat Race Adventure Sports will see brave souls run, jump, kayak and swim the course along both banks of the River Tees on Sunday 24 August.
Starting at the Riverside car park the 'River Rats' will be challenged to kayak and raft along the river, battle through an assault course, race across the Infinity Bridge and have a splash in the fantastic Tees Barrage International White Water Course. The route will culminate in participants being dared to walk the plank off the replica of Captain Cook’s HM Bark Endeavour.
Participants will be able to enjoy special discounted early bird entry rates until 31 July. You can enter as an individual, as a team of five or a team of 10. You can run for charity or just for fun! Prices are £45 for individual entrants, £40 to enter as a team of five or £35 to enter as a team of 10. Prices will increase by £4 from 1 August.
Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “This is the fifth year the River Rat Race will be coming back to Stockton and we are looking to build on the great success of the previous years’ events. The River Tees is at the heart of Stockton and this type of event is a great way to showcase the region and find out all that Stockton’s Riverside has to offer. Make sure you take advantage of these special early entry fees and book your place today.”
The exciting urban adventure is open to people of all abilities and experience, from past participants to new ‘River Rats’ who fancy a challenge. None of the activities require a special skill and there will be support from course marshals along the way - all that is required is a sense of adventure, a love of water and enough fitness to get around the 10km route.
