Work is now complete on a new car park in Billingham.
It has opened next to the Community Centre on the Causeway and has been constructed to replace the existing Community Centre car park which will be turned into a £3.5 million “care ready” scheme.
Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Councillor Mike Smith, said: “There is a strong need for supported living accommodation for older people in Billingham so I am delighted we are now in a position where the development of this accommodation can move forward without us losing valuable car parking spaces close to Billingham Town Centre.
“The new car park means that residents and visitors can easily access both the businesses and facilities available in Billingham Town Centre and all of the Community Centre services too.”
Works are due to start on the “care ready” scheme on the 8 August and will take around a year to complete.
