Your chance to nominate a Stockton Sports hero

Tuesday, December 02, 2014

The search is on for the unsung sports heroes of Stockton Borough.

Residents living across the Borough are being encouraged to nominate local sports clubs, coaches and volunteers who go the extra mile for their communities and organisations.

Nominations for this year's Stockton Council's Club, Coach and Volunteer Awards are open from now until Friday 9 January 2015.

This year's categories are:

  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Club of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Team of the Year
  • Contribution to Sport
  • Community Sports Coach Award

Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Ken Dixon, said: "Many unsung heroes give so much time to local sports clubs across our Borough so it's only right that the efforts of these dedicated members of our sporting community are acknowledged and celebrated.

"There are seven categories to be contested this year - don't miss this opportunity to nominate a team or someone who you believe deserves acknowledgment for their tireless work behind the scenes."

This year's awards ceremony takes place on Friday 13 February 2015 at Stockton Town Football Club.
