Stockton's Riverside will take centre stage for a 10k adventure race with a difference next weekend.
Organised by Stockton Council and Rat Race Adventure Sports, the River Rat Race will return to Stockton on Sunday 24 August where Starting at the Riverside car park the 'River Rats' will kayak and raft down the river, battle through an assault course, sprint across the Infinity Bridge and have a splash in the fantastic Tees Barrage International White Water Course. Outside of the water, competitors can choose their own pace to walk or jog the course.
The route will culminate in participants being dared to walk the plank off the replica of Captain Cook’s HM Bark Endeavour.
Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: “The River Rat race is always a popular event and we are looking to build even more on last year’s success.
"The race is open to everyone - you can choose your own pace and you don’t need any special skills, just a sense of adventure and enough fitness to get around the route. Don’t miss out on this exciting event.”
