The judges of this year’s World Parmo Competition in Stockton have been announced!
This Sunday (25 August), local radio presenter and Middlesbrough FC match day announcer Mark Page will join Stockton Council’s Catering Manager Anita Brown to decide the winning dishes during the competition.
The World Parmo Competition is part of the annual Summer Show at Preston Park Museum and Grounds during the Bank Holiday weekend, Sunday 25 and Monday 26 August.
This year the competition will be broken down into two categories – best takeaway and best restaurant.
Mark, who has over 30 years’ radio and TV experience, said: "As an afficianado of the Teesside Parmo since its early days as late night fodder for those escaping night clubs and late night bars, it's great to see how its appeal has spread as the norm for Teessiders.
"Gosh they can even get it now in Geordieland, so its popularity has spread. I am looking forward to trying several parmos in literally one bite at the event, something I've not tried before."
Visitors are invited to come down and watch the cook-off from 1:30pm on Sunday. The competition winners of the trophies will be announced around 3.30pm.
Entry to the Stockton Summer Show costs £4 for adults and £2 for under 16s with free entry for under 5s and wheelchair users.
