Open air theatre brings Shakespeare to Preston Park

Preston Park Museum and Grounds is being transformed into an open air theatre for the second time this summer.

Following the success of “Babe the Sheep-Pig” last month, theatre company Illyria will be back to perform William Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” as part of Preston Park Museum and Ground’s Open Air Theatre season.

On 17 August at 7.30pm the popular romantic comedy will be performed on a stage based on those used by 16th Century touring companies. Gates open at 6.30pm.

Visitors are invited to bring a picnic and their own seating or rug to enjoy a leisurely evening in the relaxing surrounds of the Bandstand Garden.

Tickets cost £12 for adults, £9 for concessions (NUS members, the unwaged or over 60s), £6 for children aged 5-16 years old and under 5s go free.

Group tickets are also available. A family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) costs £30.

More than ten adults can book together for a reduced price of £9 per person.

Meanwhile if more than ten children’s tickets are booked together they will cost just £5 per person.

All children must be accompanied by an adult throughout the performance.
