If you have ever fancied learning a new skill, taking up a hobby or enhancing your CV Stockton Council’s Adult Education service Tees Achieve has a wide range of exciting courses on offer starting from September.
From computer studies to first aid there is something for everyone and in addition to the large number of on-going courses offered each year such as cookery, languages and photography, Tees Achieve is launching a wealth of new and exciting community courses in venues across Stockton Borough.
- Find out how to alter, fit and embellish clothes and how to design clothes, bags and accessories with the ‘Sewing Bee’ course.
- A new information and communication technology (ICT) course offering hands on skills to help learners unlock the mysteries of computing and keep in touch with friends and family, download music, find holiday deals and much more.
- For the first time Tees Achieve’s experienced cookery and cake decoration tutors will be running a 10 week ‘afternoon tea temptations’ course.
- For men wishing to hone their cookery skills a new course ‘man up and learn to cook’ will see learners impress friends and family with a range of tasty dishes.
To find out more about the courses before they start head along to Tees Achieve’s open day on Tuesday, 17 September, from 4pm to 7pm at Billingham Community Centre. Learners and tutors from a range of courses will be on hand to show off their works and give advice.
Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health, said: “Tees Achieve offers a wealth of courses for every taste and every ability with learning venues right across the Borough.
"The open day offers an excellent opportunity to get a flavour of what the courses involve and what people can learn or produce. With help from experienced and enthusiastic tutors, our learners can gain new skills, make friends and have fun.”
