The community of Billingham is today celebrating the news that it has received a £41,198 funding boost from SITA Trust to provide a Multi Use Games Area, as part of the Sport in the Park Developments at John Whitehead Park
This project will help to address themes central to the successful regeneration and future of John Whitehead Park and Billingham as a whole. This new development will offer improved recreational facilities for the public. They will have a place to play informal sports, enjoying the benefits of dynamic exercise and improved health.
Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: "This is fantastic news. The funding from SITA Trust will allow us to provide first class recreational facilities for people in Billingham. John Whitehead Park is already a popular and well used park and this Multi Use Games Area will be a welcome addition."
Jools Granville of SITA Trust said "We’re delighted to have been able to offer this grant to provide a fantastic new facility in this well used park – all sorts of sports can be played in the new area from basketball to football so it should be attractive to people of all ages and fitness levels. We look forward to seeing groups using it in the years to come."
