If you fancy taking on a new challenge and trying out a new sport then Stockton Council is holding the perfect event.
The Council is looking for novice rowers to take up the Indoor Community Boat Challenge on Saturday, 31 March at the River Tees Water Sports Centre.
Teams of four are required and each must include at least two females and a minimum of two people aged over 40. Anyone wanting to take part must be aged over 18 years and be new to rowing.
All the action will take place on rowing machines and the two winning teams from the day will then get to take to the water and be part of the Tees Regatta in May.
The Indoor Challenge is free and the winners will receive six free training sessions on the water in a state-of-the-art quad boat, with fully qualified and experienced coaches and support from Tees Rowing Club.
They will then have the chance to go head to head in the Community Boat Challenge Final as part of the Tees Regatta on Saturday, 26 May.
Councillor Ken Dixon, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, said: "Last year was the first time we held the Indoor Challenge and it was a great success I would encourage anyone who fancies giving rowing a go, to head along and try out the challenge - you never know - you could end up taking to the River Tees as part of Tees Regatta."
