Big plans, bright future

No changes to Easter refuse and recycling collections

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

With Easter on its way residents across Stockton Borough are reminded there will be no changes to their refuse collections over the holiday period.

Stockton Council's Care For Your Area (CFYA) crews will be out and about as usual collecting wheeled bins and recycling over the bank holiday weekend.

And with spring in the air, it is time once again for CFYA staff to start collecting green garden waste as part of the Council’s kerbside collections.

The green waste collections run for 26 weeks from April to October and are made every fortnight - the same day as all other recycling. Red week collections start on Tuesday 10 April and blue week collections begin on Tuesday, 17 April. Green waste should be out before 7am on the morning of collection.

Replacement or additional re-usable green waste sacks can be purchased for £1.50 from various Council offices across the Borough. Alternatively, rolls of clear green waste sacks are available for £2.

Councillor David Rose, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for the Environment, said: “Now that spring has sprung it’s a good opportunity to tidy up your garden and make the most of the convenient kerbside green waste collection.”
