The Castlegate Shopping Centre in Stockton will be closing one of the entrances to the centre's multi story car park from Monday, 12 March 2012.
The closure will impact the Tower Street entrance and is anticipated to remain closed until 20 July. Shoppers and users of the Castlegate who would normally access the car park via Tower Street are now being advised to use the entrance on Riverside Road.
The car park works come as part of multi-million pound initiative to redevelop and invigorate the shopping centre. This final phase will complete the works to the lower four levels, external walls and staircases to provide a clean, bright and safe environment for customers. The external appearance of the car park will also be considerably improved by the proposed redecoration scheme with work already completed to floors 5-8.
Karen Eve, Centre Manager said "We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the improvement works and are grateful for our customers patience and understanding. 2012 is an exciting year for Castlegate Shopping Centre with a number of plans being rolled out to improve the retail environment for tenants and customers alike".
"We have done as much as we can to minimize any inconvenience to customers including the placement of public notices in the local press, detailing information on the centre's website, broadcasting customer announcements through the centre's messaging system and displaying posters in key locations. We are also working with Stockton Council to push out communications to the wider Stockton Community about the centre's on-going developments.
