National recognition for Xentrall Shared Services

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Xentrall Shared Services has been Commended in the annual MJ Local Government Achievement Awards.

Judges recognised the work of Xentrall in the 'Transformation Through IT' category.

Xentrall Shared Services ICT was established in May 2008 to jointly deliver back office services to both Stockton and Darlington Councils.

The original business case for the partnership identified joint savings of £7.4 million over ten years, along with significant service improvements. Through investment in technology and staff, 85 per cent of all ICT related calls are now fixed within 15 minutes of first contact. The original savings target has been exceeded year on year.

Councillor David Harrington, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Corporate Management and Finance, said: "Congratulations to all the staff at Xentrall who work so hard – it is great the service has been recognised at a national level.

"The savings and transformation targets set were ambitious but we are all aware further savings were required to respond to the constantly changing financial environment.

"Xentrall is a wonderful example of partnership working to, not only achieve necessary savings, but also providing services in a way which is cutting edge and to the benefit of all its customers."

Councillor Steve Harker, Darlington Council's Cabinet member for Efficiency and Resources, said: "This Award is a testament to what has been achieved by staff working in this public-public partnership between Darlington BC and Stockton BC. Xentrall are not only providing excellent services to both Councils, but have created savings for both Councils. Well done."
