Council pays tribute to Councillor Allison Trainer

Stockton Borough Council pays tribute to Councillor Allison Trainer who has sadly died after a long battle with cancer.

Allison, 44 was elected to the Council for the Mandale and Victoria ward, Thornaby in May 2003 and served as a member of the Thornaby Independents Association (TIA).

Allison was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. Over the last four years she has fought the disease while continuing to work hard for residents in her ward and across Thornaby. She also raised thousands of pounds for the University Hospital of North Tees and other charities.

Mother to three children, Michael, 27, Darren, 23 and Adam, 12 she is also survived by husband, Mick.

During her time as a Stockton Borough Councillor she was a member of the Council's Housing and Community Safety Select Committee and was nominated as chair of that committee in April 2006.

She was also a member of the Executive Scrutiny Committee (appointed in May 2007) and served on the Licensing Committee from 2005-2007. She was also a Board Member of Tristar Homes.
