More pubs strike gold in Council's awards scheme

More pubs across Stockton-on-Tees have won recognition as part of a new licensing awards scheme.

In June, the Council launched 'Setting the Bar', which rewards licensed premises that strive for high standards.

We revealed the first pubs to secure gold, silver and bronze ratings, and now more have been awarded during the festive season.

Here's the lowdown on the latest ratings:

Gold:

  • The North Eastern, Stockton  
  • The Royal Oak, Stockton
  • The Edge, Stockton
  • The Riverside Lounge, Stockton
  • Head Of Steam, Norton
  • Myton House Farm, Ingleby Barwick
  • The Roundel, Thornaby

Silver:

  • The Castle & Anchor, Stockton

Bronze:

  • The Oddfellows, Thornaby
  • Brennan's Bar, Stockton

Councillor Steve Nelson, Cabinet Member for Access, Communities and Community Safety, said: "I am thrilled with how successful 'Setting the Bar' has been, and it is great to see so many more fantastic bars getting on board.

"The initiative gives us the opportunity to reward responsible operators in the Borough, and encourages others to raise their standards.

"With the full support of Cleveland Police, the scheme hopes to guarantee residents a safe and enjoyable night out."
