Love Your Local Market announces its return - with a football theme
A much-loved market will return to Stockton High Street with the promise of food, entertainment and a special football theme.
The annual Love Your Local Market will be celebrated on Saturday, May 19 from 10am until 3pm.
This is the same day as the FA Cup final, and the day before Stockton Town FC play at Wembley.
On offer this year will be children's fancy dress characters with a royal wedding theme, and prizes can be won on the Wheel of Fortune and Play Your Cards Right games.
Love Your Local Market, Union Jack and Stockton Town FC bunting will line the market, and traders are encouraged to decorate their stalls with football scarfs.
'Daisy the Duck' - from the Rediscover Stockton shop - will be brought out to stand in the market, and Spider-Man will make a special visit.
Councillor Nigel Cooke, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, said: "Love Your Local Market is always a favourite with families and promises a fun day out.
"This year we want to introduce a football theme to tie in with Stockton Town FC's success story prior to their match at Wembley.
"This is just one of our programme of markets planned this year which will bring the town centre to life.
"And don't forget to visit our fantastic Monday markets in Billingham and Thursday markets in Thornaby."
