Permanent Post. Required as soon as possible.

The Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Horizons Specialist Academy Trust consists of Abbey Hill Academy (Hardwick, Stockton), Westlands Academy (Thornaby), Green Gates Academy (Elm Tree, Stockton) and Hollis Academy (Middlesbrough). The Trust serves a population of approximately 500 students aged 5 to 19 with a broad range of special educational needs.
The Trust wishes to appoint a caretaker to join their successful site management team. The post is permanent and will be based at Westlands Academy in Thornaby.
The post holder will work under the supervision of the Trust's Premises and Facilities Manager and in partnership with the site team to:
- Ensure the cleanliness of the Academy.
- Carry out repairs and maintenance that are above and beyond the scope of a competent DIY person.
- Be able to undertake and complete more specialist work at a semi-skilled craftsman level.
- Be responsible for the opening and closing of the Academy during the absence of other staff.
- Be one of the named key holders for the Academy.
- Have competent IT skills in order to operate planned maintenance programmes.
The successful candidate will be someone who is keen to maintain high standards and be able to use their own initiative with regards to prioritizing their workload and recognizing areas in the Trust that require attention. Candidates should be prepared to work flexibly especially during the absence of colleagues across the Trust. Experience in a trade, in particular joinery, would be an advantage.
Although this post is primarily based at Westlands Academy in Thornaby, you may be involved in covering absences and holidays at any of the academies in the Trust and therefore it is essential that the post holder has their own transport.
There is an expectation that all our staff will work across the Trust as necessary and the post holder will be asked to work at any of the sites across the four academies.
A visit to Westlands Academy would be recommended. To arrange this and/or to obtain an application form and further information please e-mail Mrs. Julie Povall, HR Clerk on firstname.lastname@example.org or contact by telephone on 01642 677113.
Completed application forms should be returned by Friday 23rd March to: Mrs. Julie Povall, HR Clerk, Horizons Specialist Academy Trust, c/o Abbey Hill Academy, Ketton Road, Stockton-on-Tees. TS19 8BU or by email to email@example.com. Please do not submit applications directly to Westlands Academy.
