In Living Memory

The In Living Memory project is a collection of the Borough's memories, stories and experiences.

In Living Memory is a collection of the Borough's memories, stories and experiences.

The project began following a series of sessions that brought together the people of Stockton-on-Tees to share what living in the Borough means to them. The seven Community Partnerships across Stockton-on-Tees worked with the community and the Council to gather stories and showcased them at an interactive exhibition in 2022.

In Living Memory In Our High Streets (Stockton)

The project is now continuing with In Living Memory In Our High Streets (Stockton), a campaign looking find stories, quotes and pictures from people like you who live and work in Stockton. Stockton's High Street is undergoing a huge transformation with the creation of Stockton Waterfront, an urban park which will open up the High Street and connect it to the river.

Do you have a Stockton High Street heritage item, from the distant or more recent past, that you would like to be included in our archives and public displays? Have you got a High Street photograph you would like to share?

We also want to hear your stories and experiences of the town centre to share them at a future exhibition celebrating the High Street's heritage.

Share your story

Share your story by emailing engagement@stockton.gov.uk, or by sending a message or creating a post on your local Community Partnership Facebook page:

You can also take an In Living Memory postcard, available from the Enjoy Stockton shop and Stockton Central Library, and jot down your stories and memories of the High Street, or come along to one of our heritage drop-in sessions listed below. We'd love to hear from you.
