Warm Homes Healthy People scheme

warm homes healthy people

Warm Homes Healthy People in Stockton-on-Tees has been set up to give support to people whose health makes them vulnerable to cold weather.

The Warm Homes Healthy People scheme finished for winter on 31 March 2019. We hope to have the scheme available once more from 1 October 2019 and details will be published on this page over the coming months.

Although the services described below are not available during the summer months, we recognise that support for affordable warmth is often still required.

If you, or someone you know, requires support then please contact Stockton District Advice and Information Service (the Citizens Advice Bureau) on 01642 – 633877 or go to their website for advice and guidance.

If you require Emergency Heating outside at any time please contact Cleveland Fire on their 24 hours contact helpline on 01429 874063.

What is Warm Homes Healthy People?

Cold weather can have a serious impact on health and make people more vulnerable to pneumonia, heart attacks, strokes and depression. Keeping warm and healthy during cold weather can help keep illness away.

If you are any of the following:

  • Over 75
  • In receipt of disability benefits
  • Have a long term illness made worse by the cold
  • Live with a child (under 5) who has a long term illness made worse by the cold.

We can help with:

  • Emergency heating
  • Energy debt advice and welfare benefits advice and assistance
  • Home handyman service – which can assist with modest energy efficiency measures or minor repairs
  • We also offer wider advice and support to help keep you healthy and more able to cope with cold weather.

If you are in receipt of qualifying benefits:

  • Boiler servicing and repairs
