National Health Campaigns

health

Stockton Council and its relevant health partners work to localise national health campaigns that are relevant to our overall delivery plan and communications plan.

We will keep this page updated with information and links for all campaigns we are supporting in the Borough.

ONE YOU

One You is a ground-breaking new campaign to help the nation’s adults, especially those between the ages of 40-60 years old, avoid future diseases caused by modern day lifestyles. Everyday habits and behaviours - such as eating too much unhealthy food, drinking more alcohol than is recommended, continuing to smoke and not being active enough – are responsible for around 40% of all deaths in England and cost the NHS more than £11 billion a year. One You is here to help you make simple changes which can double your chances of being healthy at 70 and beyond.

 Did you know?

  • Reduced health in later life is not inevitable. Older people can live as well as young people by making relatively small changes to their habits and lifestyles now.
  • Our busy lives often means our own health is at the bottom of our list of priorities. Remember that it’s important to take time to look after yourself as not only will you feel the benefits but so will your family.
  • Modern day life means it’s never felt easier to eat bigger portions and to get to the end of the day and realise you’ve been sat down for most of it.
  • One You is here to help you move more, eat well, drink less alcohol and be smoke free. It will also provide information to help you feel less stressed and sleep better.
  • The lifestyle choices we make today can decrease our risk of serious illnesses like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer by as much as 60%.

A good way to start the fight to healthy is to take our free One You health quiz, ‘How Are You’. This innovative quiz provides personalised recommendations based on your results and direct you to tools and offers to help you take action where it’s most needed.
