MoreLife Stockton-on-Tees Weight Management Service
Helping parents and children ‘live healthier ever after'
MoreLife Stockton-on-Tees is based at Ragworth Neighbourhood Centre. The local team of practitioners deliver free specialist child and adult weight management services across the borough including schools, community children’s centres, libraries and GP surgeries. The programmes are underpinned by their core values: high-quality, flexible, evidence-based and fun. There are three programmes available for parents or carers, teenagers aged 13-17 years and children aged 5-12 years.
MoreLife exists to raise awareness, inspire action and treat the global problem of obesity. The team’s aim is to support those who struggle with their weight and to encourage participants to make sustainable changes to their lives. The range of person-centred programmes cover healthy eating, physical activity and building self-confidence.
MoreLife Ltd was researched and founded by Professor Paul Gately, one of the UK's most respected experts in obesity and nutrition. The free service delivers weight management and health improvement programmes to individuals and families. MoreLife know that the issue of obesity is not going away and if it is not tackled now, individuals will pay with their lives later. Research shows that if a child is overweight now, they are increasingly likely to be obese with serious health problems in later life. Currently, 1 in 5 children in Reception year are overweight or obese, rising to 1 in 3 children by Year 6.
