Have your say on draft Local Plan

The draft sets out a vision for the future development of the Borough in relation to housing, the economy, community facilities and infrastructure up to 2032.

Residents are still able to share their views on the document in a public consultation before it ends on Friday, 20 January.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Bob Cook, said: "The Local Plan is incredibly important to Stockton-on-Tees and when adopted it will be the starting point for consideration of planning applications for the development and use of land.

"That will enable us to plan ahead to protect the unique character of our Borough, and to identify the land required to provide the jobs and homes needed now and for future generations.

"This is the first formal stage of the consultation and we would urge residents to share their views before it ends on 20 January."

Hard copy consultation forms are available in all of the Borough's libraries, where hard copies of the Draft Local Plan and supporting documents can also be viewed.

The Local Plan must be prepared in accordance with Government guidance and regulations. There will be another stage of public consultation which is expected this summer ahead of submission to Government in the autumn, examination in public in spring 2018 and formal adoption in summer 2018.
