Fun-filled summer activities in Stockton Borough

Libraries across Stockton Borough are hosting a summer of fun, free activities for children and families during the school holidays.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is holding the series of events which range from family fun days to chess clubs and autism-friendly craft sessions:

Autism friendly craft sessions
These sessions are suitable for children with an Autistic Spectrum Condition who would like to attend a quieter craft activity with their siblings or friends. Spaces are limited and booking is required. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Cute Cats
Thursday 3 August
Time: 9 - 10am
Location: Billingham Library
Crafts for all feline fans. Suitable for four to 11 year olds. To book a place call Billingham Library on 01642 528084.

Animal Antics Craft Session
Date: Tuesday 22 August
Time: 4 - 5pm
Location: Thornaby Central Library
Come along to make a range of exciting animal crafts. Suitable for five to 11 year olds. To book a place call Thornaby Central Library on 01642 528117.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me
Date: Thursday 24 August
Time: 10 - 11am
Location: Thornaby Library within Riverbank Children's Centre
Ya-Harr me Hearties! Have you ever wanted to be a pirate? Put on your peg leg and become a buccaneer at Thornaby Library. Suitable for five to 11 year olds. To book a place call Riverbank Children's Centre on 01642 528150.

Chess Club
1pm to 3pm, every Saturday from 5 August
Stockton Central Library

Learn to play chess or perfect your moves at this weekly chess club in partnership with Chess in Schools. The club is open to anyone aged 8 and over and is suitable for all players, from beginners to Grand Masters. Booking is not required as this is a drop-in event.

Hands on Dyslexia Day
11am to 3pm, Wednesday 16 August
Stockton Central Library

Learn all about dyslexia and the support available while having fun listening to stories, enjoy craft activities, competitions and badge making. Suitable for all ages. Children aged 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Booking is not required as this is a drop-in event.

Taste of the Tees
10am to 2pm, Thursday 24 August
Stockton Central Library
Come and celebrate the River Tees past and present with River Tees Rediscovered and other local organisations in a fun packed day of free family crafts, displays, water safety demonstrations, quizzes and competitions. Booking is not required as this is a drop-in event.
