There are a number of options available to assist people who are struggling to get on the property ladder and also those who would like to move up the ladder.
Stockton Council is working to increase the number of affordable homes for sale for local people who are struggling to buy a property in Stockton-on-Tees.
Through its powers under planning legislation, the Council ensures that on all new private developments across the Borough which are over a certain size, a proportion of the new homes for sale are 'affordable'. This could include options such as shared ownership or discounted market sale.
Help to Buy is an umbrella term for a range of government funded schemes designed to help people to get onto the property ladder. There are several options available, including equity loans, rent to buy and shared ownership.
