Food Safety Training

food safety

Our Food Safety Team carries out a variety of food safety training courses for food business owners and their employees.

Ensuring food safety is a critical factor for any food business; it can help to avoid costly food poisoning incidents.

We can help you make the right decision for your business when it comes to ensuring your staff are trained properly and cost effectively. We offer nationally recognised qualifications. CIEH (Chartered Institute of Environmental Health) and RIPH (Royal Institute of Public Health). Our specialist trainers have industry experience or are current enforcement officers and the courses are delivered at local training venues.

Food Safety Management System

It is a legal requirement for food business operators to have a documented food safety management system and associated monitoring records that are relevant to their food business.  If food businesses are operating without a food safety management system they are breaching this requirement and, on inspection by the Environmental Health Unit, formal action may be taken.

All food businesses are now allocated a star rating following an inspection. The star rating is a way in which consumers can easily establish how well a food premise is managing food safety.  Businesses operating a food safety management system (e.g. SFBB or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), will gain a higher star rating than those who don't.

Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) is a food safety management system designed, by the Food Standards Agency, for use in catering establishments.  It has been designed to assist food businesses in complying with the legislation.

Safer Food Better Business is based on the four C's linked to food safety:

  • cross contamination
  • cleaning
  • chilling
  • cooking

Our Food Safety Team are available to help you develop, implement and update your food safety management system.
