Stockton Council maintains most of the roads and footpaths across the Borough.
We carry out many tasks on your behalf to keep them safe, free-moving and clean. This work includes gritting and snow clearing.
In these pages you'll find useful information about the following:
|Current roadworks||Apply for a licence to work on a highway|
|Report a damaged road, path/cycle path, pothole, street furniture or a broken street light||Sustainable travel|
|Gritting and snow clearing||Adoption of highways|
|Road safety||Traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, yellow road markings and road signs|
|Traffic and gating orders||Highway Network Management and Services|
|Major highway projects||Car parking|
|Stockton-on-Tees Street Charter||Public and community transport
Major roads such as the A19 and A66 are maintained by Highways England.
We aim to ensure traffic moves freely and quickly on all our roads and the Network Management Plan sets out how we will do this by considering the needs of all road users, co-ordinating roadworks and events, reducing traffic growth and monitoring the effects of the plan.
